Orangutans are the largest tree living animal in the world. Orangutans can eat over 400 different types of fruits in the world. They mostly, live in the rainforest by themselves or with their children.
Habitat
Orangutans live in Indonesia and Malaysia on the Island of Sumatra and Borneo. These are the only places they live in the Wild. Orangutans mostly live in the rainforests where they normally belong. They mostly swing in trees all day. The perfect habitat for them would be the rainforests so they can swing around all day and play all day. Orangutans habitat is endangered because of human activity. Humans are destroying the forests for palm oil and construction.
Appearance
The Borneo orangutan has a smooth, long red/orange/brown-ish coat but any facial hair. The Sumatran orangutan has a ginger/red-ish coat and a lot of facial hair. The Borneo orangutan have much larger cheek pads called, flanges.
Behaviour
Social behaviour varies between Bornean and Sumatran orangutans. The Sumatran orangutans have access to more fruit and sharing opportunity. Orangutans have to sleep to have good behaviour all the time.
Diet
Orangutans mostly like to eat fruit. Over 400 types of food have been documented as part of the orangutan's diet. These are some of the orangutans favourite foods, Rambutan, Jackfruit, and Durian. They eat many healthy foods everyday.
Orangutans can eat a lot of healthy food each and everyday. Orangutans are very active. Orangutans can be a little bit mean. The Borneo orangutan is different than the Sumatran orangutan. There are different species that live in the same habitat.
